Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Royal Paladins - Part 1

Picking out a Grade 0 Vanguard:
Pick Dorangal. With Barcgal being banned in the Vanguard Position, this is the alternative. By revealing the top 5 cards, and if Knight of Quests, Galahad is among the 5 cards, you ride it and return the rest of the cards to the bottom of the Deck, and you cannot ride if you Superior Ride Knight of Quests, Galahad. If no Knight of Quests, Galahad is among the 5 cards, you can return the 5 cards to the bottom of the Deck. Please note that you can return these cards in any order you choose.

Strategy “Controlling the flow of Luck”:
Well, I’ll say this in each stage, so that you’ll understand what’s going on.

Stage 1: Drawing Galahad grades in your opening hand:
With Galahad now becoming the main focus of this deck, you need to decide on a few things, like “What is the possibility of getting each piece in your Opening Hand?” Now then, let’s separate it into each piece:

Without Mulligan: 1 - (46/50)(45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 35% Chance
Mulligan (1 card): 1 - (42/46) = 8.6% Chance
Mulligan (2 cards): 1 - (43/47)(42/46) = 16.4% Chance
Mulligan (3 cards): 1 - (44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 23.4% Chance
Mulligan (4 cards): 1 - (45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 29.6% Chance
Mulligan (5 cards): 1 - (46/50)(45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 35% Chance
First Turn: 1 - (41/45)(40/44)(39/43)(38/42)(37/41)(36/40) = 44.8% Chance

Essentially, you should have a good chance of getting Knight of Quests, Galahad on the first turn to ride, so you would be able to get to Grade 1 without wasting a card.

Without Mulligan: 1 - (46/50)(45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 35% Chance
Mulligan (1 card): 1 - (42/46) = 8.6% Chance
Mulligan (2 cards): 1 - (43/47)(42/46) = 16.4% Chance
Mulligan (3 cards): 1 - (44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 23.4% Chance
Mulligan (4 cards): 1 - (45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 29.6% Chance
Mulligan (5 cards): 1 - (46/50)(45/49)(44/48)(43/47)(42/46) = 35% Chance

With this, you have a good chance that you won’t get Knight of Trials, Galahad or Knight of Godspeed, Galahad in your opening hand.

Stage 2: Unable to get Knight of Quests, Galahad:
Alright, so 5 cards went down to the bottom, and you decided to regular ride a Grade 1, so that you don’t fall to a disadvantage against your opponent; however, let me ask you this: “What if the 5 cards that you send to the bottom can help you determine what you get, in a general sense?” For the example, the 5 cards shown would be this: Future Knight, Llew, Future Knight, Llew, Transporter of Good Luck, Epona, Transporter of Good Luck, Epona, Knight of Godspeed, Galahad. Here’s something I notice if you haven’t:

Drive Checking: 1 – (27/39) = 30% Chance of getting a Trigger

Drawing for next turn:
Grade 0: 1 – (26/38) = 31.5% Chance of getting a Grade 0
Grade 1: 1 – (24/38) = 36.8% Chance of getting a Grade 1
Grade 2: 1 – (27/38) = 28.9% Chance of getting a Grade 2
Grade 3: 1 – (31/38) = 18.4% Chance of getting a Grade 3

Stage 3: With getting Knight of Quests, Galahad and other Stages
With the understanding of how everything’s been, I’ll state it simply: the way to measure this luck is under a simple understanding of it, really.

1 - ((number of cards in deck - number of ways to get that card out)/(number of cards in deck))

By calculating the chance, you can always figure out your next logical move.

Alternative Grade 3s:
As I said in the past Strategy session, the other 2 aces in the deck would be King of Knights, Alfred and Soul Saver Dragon. If you want to read more about the past strategy, go here.

Guarding:
Instead of rambling on about the shields and that, I’ll just list them below:

Now then, what would the similarity of Yu-gi-oh! and Cardfight!! Vanguard be? Anyway, I was preparing this, beforehand, without any Yu-gi-oh! decks ready, so I put this up first. Anyway, enjoy!
