Psycho Feel Zone and Brain Hazard

If anyone missed Tech Genus (2), here it is: http://dangerascend.blogspot.com/2011/02/tech-genus-2.html

Now for the card discussion:

Psycho Feel Zone
[Normal Spell Card]
Return 2 of your removed from play monsters to the Graveyard (1 Psychic-Type Tuner and 1 non-Tuner Psychic monster), and Special Summon 1 Psychic-Type Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck of a Level equal to the total Level of those monsters in face-up Defense Position.

Brain Hazard
[Continuous Trap Card]
Select 1 of your removed from play Psychic-Type monsters, and Special Summon it. When this card is removed from the field, that monster is destroyed. When that monster is destroyed, this card is destroyed.

So, now that I'm thinking clearly, I'm wondering if RFG Psychics could work. I mean, it is certainly plausable since Brain Hazard can be used to bring back a RFG Psychic as well as Escape from the Dark Dimension if your Psychic monster is Dark. It could be something that I could try out.

In simple terms:
  • Psycho Feel Zone is a RFG tuning mechanic for Psychics.
  • Brain Hazard is a Psychic-type form of Escape of the Dark Dimension.
Anyway, stating something I can enjoy at a later date.

Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

From what I remember about the test, Dark Necrofear knocked out most of my resources at the time I really need them in the Graveyard, so it got ejected. Everything else seems a bit straightforward, so if there's any question, go ahead and leave a comment.

Now, I think I should bring your attention to a card I noticed in Extreme Victory: Safety Zone.

Safety Zone
[Continuous Trap Card]
Select 1 face-up Attack Position monster on the field. It cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects, it cannot be destroyed by battle, and it cannot attack your opponent directly. When this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster. When that monster is removed from the field, destroy this card.

What I thought when reading this was: "So, this card makes a monster indestructible. Very interesting when you face off against an opponent that loves to destroy monsters and that. Besides Field Bombers like Black Rose Dragon for instance, you would have to pay attention to card effects that target a Spell and Trap Card for destruction like Mystical Space Typhoon or target a card for destruction.

I would have to look into removal, but besides that, I figured it'll be nice to let you guys know.

The Truth - Part 3 - The Decision

Now, you are wondering what I was talking about with their "ban list". Well, let me pull up their additions to the Konami ban list, so you guys can tell what cards that they have banned during one of their weekly tournaments. Here is their list that they made as an add-on to Konami's ban list:

TOURNAMENT BANNED ON DUEL MONSTERS EXPERT
Archlord Kristya
Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
Black Whirlwind
Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
Dandylion
Dark Armed Dragon
Dragon Ravine
Dragunity Phalanx
Fabled Grimro
Fabled Kushano
Gateway of the Six
Gladiator Beast Heraklinos
Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
Infernity Launcher
Judgment Dragon
Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En
Machina Gearframe
Master Hyperion
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
Scrapstorm
Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
XX-Saber Darksoul
XX-Saber Faultroll

TOURNAMENT LIMITED ON DUEL MONSTERS EXPERT
Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North
Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor
Bottomless Trap Hole
Celestia, Lightsworn Angel
Dimensional Prison
Elemental Hero Absolute Zero
Elemental Hero The Shining
Fissure
Gigaplant
Hammer Shot
Rekindling
Sakuretsu Armor
Scrap Chimera
Six Samurai United
Smashing Ground
Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
Swap Frog
Tyrant's Temper
Widespread Ruin

To tell you guys the truth, I never agreed to this list at all. Want to know why? Because a lot of the top-tier decks would be weakened, but they'll still be strong enough to take down nearly all decks. That's when the "What if?" decks came into play as I continued to give you guys more decks. Obviously, you guys aren't really affected by this list, so barely anyone was viewing those decks, but I think it's time to point them out in this discussion.

Six Samurai: http://dangerascend.blogspot.com/2010/12/what-if-six-samurai-2.html (This is without Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan, so you can replace 3 cards with Kizan if need be.)

So, my thoughts were while making these decks: "Seriously, and they're ignoring all of this? Yeah, enough of this." Then I found out that they were having a no ban list tournament, so I logged on during one of those tournament days, and noticed hostility towards anyone running a Six Samurai deck. For example, it could be like the "What if?" I made below:

Six Samurai: http://dangerascend.blogspot.com/2011/02/tech-genus-1-what-if-six-samurai-3-and.html (Yeah, you would have to use CTRL + F to find "What if?" - Six Samurai 3.)

So, my thoughts are: "Why is there hostility? This is exactly what they wanted, yet they still complain." So, my solution was trying to make a ban list where casual players can even play in, but the administration shot it down almost instantly. So, I travel to Duel Monsters Genesis (yet again) to find a good duel, and hopefully I'll be able to enjoy Yu-gi-oh! to it's fullest there, for the time being.

~~~
Obviously, yet again, this does not apply to most of you guys, but you got to wonder: "Has this happened to me locally? Can I relate to this situation? Did I make the right decision?" and any other questions that are flying throughout your minds. Feel free to discuss below about the questions, but for now, I want to say this:
"Thank you for reading the three-part posts."
The Truth - Part 2 - The Present
Part 1: http://dangerascend.blogspot.com/2011/02/truth-part-1-past.html
Under my investigative patterns, I figured out that Duel Monsters Expert was changed from bad to worse with a certain group walking around and tossing that place into a negative environment. I'm beginning to wonder why, then it hit me. The environment I use to know was literally gone and was replaced with a competitive environment, and at the end of the tourney, it falls apart. So I thought to myself, "What happened?" Then, upon further analysis of the issue, it seems that a group of people really wanted to play competitive and leave everything else to dust. Which makes me disappointed is that the actual game itself is suppose to be a casual environment and Duel Monsters Genesis was in agreement because the one thing that was good about Duel Monsters Expert is when a non-top tier deck can reach the finals and potentially win. At Duel Monsters Expert's current state, that's no longer the case.
That's besides the point. I finally got a response from my friend, but the toll of that conversation really left me thinking: "Is it really worth it to continue caring about people? If the online conversation ends, would you left wondering under a number of reasons what happened?" I don't feel a bit of regret knowing the truth about what happened from his perspective, and if he wants to stop being friends, then so be it. I don't have to live with the regret of not knowing the truth upon why he stopped talking to me.
Besides that, I find it funny that their (Yes, Duel Monsters Expert makes their own ban list. I'll explain another time.) ban list is much more heavier on the meta and left the anti-meta alone. If people want to play to win, sure, but don't drag down everyone's self-esteem with it. As mentioned in Part 1, I explained that arguing and bickering consumed the place. Now, imagine Six Samurai running through the tourney. Would you think that'll stand for a second without anyone noticing? Yeah, I think not. Especially, since that group is in the tourney (most of them) are usually partaking in it. I remember one tournament I partook in with Eccentric Assault that anyone I faced down with a first turn Stardust Dragon/Buster called me cheap and takes no skill to utilize Stardust Dragon/Buster. Well, let me ask you this: "Is it worth it to live a lie where everyone else ran the same typical archetype, or would you rather play something crazy which makes you enjoy the game more?" I could no longer stay in a game where everything I did was get bashed on for what I play. That group was the cause of that pain. I couldn't even blog properly until 4 days later, because I thought about what you guys wanted to see, instead of what I want you to see.
So I started off making customs, then posting about single cards again, then eventually back to deck making. So, I started deck making in Duel Monsters Genesis under solitude, without anyone bothering me on how I "should play" an archetype. No, I don't need that advice, because I give you guys enough information to enjoy playing a game. I try the best I can so when I leave, I actually make something out of myself about what knowledge of the game I have. It's not like "Oh, everyone should know this, and if they aren't, then they shouldn't read about it." It's what I want you guys to read. When they heard that my blog was a hit, they simply remarked "Oh, 1,000 people misclicked on your blog."
Being able to enjoy part of this game is when you can mix and max, and see what you can get (as LFN mentioned in Part 1 comments). In Duel Monsters Expert, you have access to TCG cards, OCG cards, anime cards, manga cards, and customs. Unfortunately, with this group and the state that Duel Monsters Expert is in, barely a handful of people actually care about creating decks. Others focus on their real life builds, and when that occurs, most of the top decks become real life builds, so I wonder to myself: "Is it even worth it to make customs or look into anime/manga cards, because the majority of the player base is running real life decks. Why waste the memory? Because a handful of people still care about the game; however, whenever an anime, manga, or custom card is defined as broken, the admins of Duel Monsters Expert have to make a decision on banning it, limiting it, or semi-limiting it.
However, this morning, I was able to feel relaxed. I was able to play Duel Monsters Expert like I normally do, under two reasons:
  1. I was able to play as "me", not someone that has to run a real life deck, so that it doesn't get destroyed in the process; however, their tournament ban list got in the way of that, and it gave them more power than they actually should need. However, thanks to a few people, I was able to come to my senses on a topic that I desperately needed to know. The topic was: "Was it worth it to continue playing Duel Monsters Expert? Was it the game itself...or a group of players that were playing a game just to win ruining it?" Obviously the answer I got was: "A group of players that want to "help" Duel Monsters Expert, but instead of insisting on trying to play the game for "fun", they insisted to play the game to "win".
  2. Being creative and helping people with their decks through strategical means. Not blindly stating "You must run this card or you're a noob." The three components of any deck, regardless on how it looks, is as follows: Balance, Strategy, and Power. Yet, people insist that my opinion didn't really matter, but as you can see, if people can't learn a basic deck, then how can they even survive in a competitive environment? Just a thought for you guys.
With my thoughts now clear on what's actually going on, I must make a decision on what to do...
~~~

I still know that it won't affect most of you guys, but you got to wonder: "Has this happened to me?"

The Truth - Part 1 - The Past

Typically, I don't go out of my way to post something personal, but I need to get this off my chest.

~~~
Typically, in my dueling career, I faced off against a lot of people and earned some respect over time. Not to mention that in some instances, I used it to relax from everyday worries, and let my relaxation get me through to next week, but I don't know what to do now. I mean, I still like Yu-gi-oh!, but something drastically changed in Duel Monsters Expert so in the time frame, I don't know what happened.
I mean, some people have opened up to me via the web and I tried to help them try to enjoy Yu-gi-oh! not for winning, but to play the game itself, the way it was meant to be. I don't want to see people getting satisfied by victory and feeling like crap when they lose. It's the enjoyment of the game that's really important. If you can't enjoy it, then why play it?
Now, for the serious part, within dueling or tournament play, people decide to backseat coach during that duel. Please realize that you don't do this in tournament play, and it's not worth it to duel outside of tournament play if players constantly do that. So, I complained about it. Then, they single me out and say "I'm just being angry." Well, it's not exactly fair for the player that's trying to play the game himself, and yet, they still complained.
Also, with duels, I've noticed a lot more people bickering about the meta and anti-meta. Trust me, it's not worth bickering about because it's a game that's suppose to be fun. If it stops being enjoyable, quit and come back. They complained to no end about it, like how people brag in YCS, then cause a fight to break out. Guys, it's not worth it. This game is literally based on the enjoyment of the player. If you can't enjoy it, quit. Plain and simple.
You know that people are too stubborn to not listen, so I moved to a different place that plays Yu-gi-oh! for a while.
Besides the point, I try to teach someone and have him try to enjoy playing a card game to it's fullest. So, we exchanged e-mail addresses and we chat on Windows Live messenger. Eventually, he opened up to me, as he reached out for someone to care. So, I listened, and messaged him the words he needed to hear. No matter if it's an online relationship or a face-to-face relationship, keep true to yourself. Unfortunately, he started to drift away and I started to wonder "Why? You use to chat to me, frequently. What changed? What has happened in Duel Monsters Expert to cause such a change?"
So, I began my investigation...
~~~

I know most of this doesn't apply to you, because it's an online basis, but you got to wonder "Can this happen to me?"

List of things to do, currently (short post)

I am considering making decks under the OCG ban list, but I think I'll wait until they release the TCG ban list as well, to see what happens..

As for the list of things to do, I'm considering doing this for my blog:
  • Remaking Chaos Fabled. If Chaos Sorcerer goes to 3 and Book of Moon goes to 1, I have to remake the deck slightly. Not only that, I didn't really think while I was testing it out, so I need some time to look over some old cards to see if they are even needed anymore.
  • Remaking Tech Genus. I'm considering doing the Mystic Piper Engine, (pointed out by Soliel in this post) because I'm running short on monsters every time then I get clogged by Spell and Trap hands. It's now on the table to remaking.
  • Any "What if?" builds that I make really regard to a thought of "What if this card is banned or limited?" By taking out said card, what can you replace it with? Is there even a replace for that card? Just pointing out that's how most of the decks are when made, in this category. I'm trying to put those to the side for now, unless an issue towards a ban list arises.
  • And anything else I didn't do yet in this post.
Anyway, out for now.

Exceed Monsters (Thoughts) and (Speculated) March 2011 Ban List Thoughts

Well, it'll seem pointless for me to spend time discussing what has already discussed in the past 12+ hours, so I'm going to point out some other thoughts I had when viewing these monsters. If you want to view the actual info itself, go on Shriek OCG News and find out more. (EDIT: The picture below came from Yu-gi-oh! Wikia.)

As you know, it is a Rank 4 monster, so my thoughts were like this:

Can tokens be used for Exceed Summoning? Yes, this was speculation because I wasn't sure about a couple of minutes ago about tokens being used. Now, that it's clear, ain't it good to have 3 Phantom Skyblasters at this time? Because now, it's an instant 2500 ATK beater with little to no problems. So yeah, I'm assuming it's possible, until I hear otherwise. EDIT: It's not possible to overlay the Skyblaster Tokens with Phantom Skyblaster.

What about United We Stand and how many monsters that can be on the Field at one time? This is one question that I'm not even sure about. So, let me pull up the effect of United We Stand and bold, italics, and underline what I'm thinking about.

United We Stand
[Equip Spell Card]
Increase the ATK and DEF of the equipped monster by 800 points for each face-up monster you control.

What I'm considering is "Do these Overlay Units still be counted as monsters?" If so, then, instead of having 4000 ATK maximum increase that you can have out, you can have 10400ATK maximum increase. I just thought I might as well that out, so that you guys can be curious and ask questions. (EDIT: The overlay monsters do not count as monsters while they are treated as Overlay Units.)

Now for the speculated March 2011 Ban List that was posted by most bloggers already, so I thought I might as well comment on it:

Forbidden:
Goyo Guardian
Cold Wave
Mass Driver

Limited:
Honest
Dandylion
Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow
Book of Moon
Gateway of the Six

Semi-Limited:
Card Trooper
Archlord Kristya
Spirit Reaper
Debris Dragon
Royal Tribute
Overload Fusion
Megamorph
Solemn Warning
Icarus Attack

Unlimited:
Chaos Sorcerer
Demise, King of Armageddon
Snipe Hunter
Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier
Gold Sarcophagus
Skill Drain
Ultimate Offering

Ok, I'm not going to preach about the list saying if it's bad or not, but I'll let you guys know of some thoughts I had when reading this:

Honest at 1 and Megamorph at 2: With Honest at 1, I don't mind focusing my Vairon build around getting Honest in the Graveyard fast, so that I can recycle it with Armed Changer. Not to mention this card from Extreme Victory (got this information of the Shriek page):

Assaulting the Weak Point
[Counter Trap Card]
Negate the activation of the effect of an Effect Monster that activates in the hand or Graveyard and remove it from play.

With this being out, I'm questioning if it's even worth it to run it in Vairons since Megamorph went to two.

Chaos Sorcerer at 3: Yeah, I can see this being used almost immediately. With the Exceed Monster (shown above) as a Light monster and Phantom Skyblaster being a Dark monster, I can see more decks being a Chaos variant.

Mass Driver at 0 and Ultimate Offering at 3: Is it me, or did people forget Cannon Soldier and Dark Ptera? I know it hasn't had much of an impact, but still....

I don't typically do this, but since some people were posting about it, I might as well join in and give my thoughts on the matter.

Working on stuff...

Currently, I'm going to be making a couple of sidebar things for you guys to navigate around to different sites. So, I thought I might list them down here in this post and let you guys know that I'm setting up a few things on my end.

If there's any others that need to be added, or if I miss anything, let me know and I'll add it to the list.

~~~
Besides that, I haven't really been focused in on Yu-gi-oh! except for creating cards and waiting on the ban list to be shown by Konami, and I'm waiting on more information on Exceeds Monsters to speculate.
Things I'm considering doing soon (short post)
What I'm considering doing is:
  • Make a Custom Card set. I know that I've slightly strayed from this topic for a while, but at this point, I can go through with making a custom set because an idea burned into my head.
  • Making Chaos Fabled.dek. This deck is next on my list of things to make happen, so expect it soon.
  • Do a Card Discussion on some of the Extreme Victory cards. Some of them seem interesting to point out, so I'm going to start making blog posts about them.
If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to comment. Anyway, just thought I let you guys know what I'm considering to do.
Tech Genus (1), "What if?" - Six Samurai 3, and How to deal with Maxx "C" if your opponent uses it on you?
Well, this is going to be a long post, so I decided to set up a little table to help you navigate through here. Use CTRL + F to find what you are looking for: Tech Genus (1), "What if?" - Six Samurai 3, and How to deal with Maxx "C" if your opponent uses it on you?.
~~~
Tech Genus (1):

With the new pack, Extreme Victory, coming out, I figured it's time for me to make a Tech Genus deck. So, here's the list:

Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
2x Kinka-Byo
3x Tech Genus Catapult Dragon
3x Tech Genus Cyber Magician
3x Tech Genus Rush Rhino
3x Tech Genus Striker
3x Tech Genus Werewolf

3x Tech Genus Wonder Magician

~~~
"What if?" - Six Samurai 3:
Now, we move on to what's going to happen to Six Samurai when the March 1st Ban List comes around. Thanks, LightGrunty, for giving me this idea for a prelude of a Ban List prediction. Instead of Gateway of the Six Samurai is going to be limited, I'm going to say it's going to be banned from the support cards that they gained from Extreme Victory. So, the next question comes to mind is "How will you go around making this deck?" So, here's the list:
Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
3x Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
2x Great Shogun Shien
3x Kagemusha of the Six Samurai
3x Legendary Six Samurai - Kageki
3x Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan
Mechanized Emperor Wisel Infinity
2x Shien's Footsoldier
Monster Reborn
Reinforcement of the Army
3x Shien's Smoke Signal
2x Six Samurai United
3x The Warrior Returning Alive
Call of the Haunted
3x Double-Edged Sword Technique
2x Graceful Revival
2x Limit Reverse
3x Return of the Six Samurai
Torrential Tribute
Extra Deck
Ally of Justice Decisive Armor
3x Black Rose Dragon
Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Goyo Guardian
3x Legendary Six Samurai - Shien
Mist Wurm
Naturia Barkion
Red Dragon Archfiend
Scrap Dragon
Stardust Dragon
Tech Genus Hyper Librarian
Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
~~~

Rate, fix, comment, thoughts, or discuss both decks if you want. Regardless, reading through Extreme Victory and viewing LightGrunty's blog, I figured "Might as well set up "What if?" - Six Samurai 3..." If more cards are banned, limited, or semi-limited, then I would have to consider remaking it again. With Extreme Victory's card text is out, my friend and I both agree that Gateway is going to get banned. Regardless of that, Six Samurai still has plenty of speed and optimism. It's just you would have to focus a lot more with the Extra Deck than before.

~~~
How to deal with Maxx "C" if your opponent uses it on you?:
From reading Gizer's blog about dealing with Maxx "C", I noticed that some cards weren't mentioned in it that need to be shown. So, it's time to discuss a bit on how to counter it.
First the card in question:
**   Attribute: Earth
[Insect/Effect]
You can activate this effect during either player's turn by sending this card from your hand to the Graveyard. This turn, each time your opponent Special Summon a monster(s), draw 1 card. You can only activate "Maxx "C"" once per turn.
ATK: 500     DEF: 200
In Gizer's post, he mentions Greed can be used to burn your opponent to pieces while you continue to Special Summon spam. I'm considering that there are better options than Greed, so time to bring up the first case:
[Continuous Trap Card]
Activate only when your opponent draws a card(s), except during their Draw Phase. Draw 2 cards.
When your opponent first draw a card off Maxx "C"'s effect, you can activate Appropriate in response. For the first time, you do not draw for Appropriate's effect, but after that, when your opponent draws a card off Maxx "C", you can draw 2 off the response of that. Then, you can continue to Special Summon as much as you please, because you would be gaining card advantage as well as swarm your opponent.
Now, for the last case:
*    Attribute: Wind
[Spellcaster/Effect]
If your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand, except during the Draw Phase, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard. For the rest of this turn, neither player can add card(s) from their Deck to their hand. (Drawing cards is also considered as "adding a card to the hand.")
ATK: 0     DEF: 0
So, basically, for this card, when your opponent draws their one card for Maxx "C", you can send this card from your Hand to your Graveyard. So, basically, all the hand advantage you suppose to get off Maxx "C" becomes just 1 card.
Thoughts or comments on this?
Chaos Hunter
Wikipedia Link: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Hunter
I'm pretty sure you guys heard it from other bloggers, but I think it's time for me to state something about the card, then go build a deck on a whim.
Chaos Hunter
******* Attribute: Dark
[Fiend/Effect]
When your opponent Special Summon a monster, you can discard 1 card to Special Summon this card from your hand. Your opponent cannot remove cards from play.
ATK: 2500 DEF: 1600
So, I've been thinking "Why not make a Chaos Fabled deck with this and go with it?" I'll make that deck soon enough. Now for the pros and cons:
Pros:
  • Able to be Special Summoned easily by it's effect. Downside to this is that your opponent can use one of their cards to kill it right then and there.
  • Discard cost. It'll work well with Fabled.
Con:
  • Able to be Normal Summoned, but it costs two tributes to do so. So, in a sense, you would use the effect a lot more than just Normal Summoning it.
~~~

Anyway, thought I might mention what I'm up to before I think about making the deck.

Just a few things worth mentioning

Yeah, I decided to take a small break from making a bunch of decks, but that doesn't mean that I don't notice anything.

With the new ban list speculation coming around the corner, the only thing I have to say is this: "Why not just wait for the new ban list to come out, and why bother with making your own?" It's true that some of the cards that people mentioned deserve to be banned, but through all this speculation, it causes flame wars to occur...which makes the meaning of what you want to see banned, pointless, and it just leaves a bad aftertaste afterwards.

I'm not going to boast around with a ban list speculation thread, because that's slightly behind the reason of the "What if?" Deck Discussion I did before. If anyone wants to see a "What if?" Deck, go ahead and comment below with the suggestion.

As for my next deck I'm going to make, I'm having problems with the Spell and Trap line-up, so I shelved the idea for now. Another reason why I don't have a Deck List for you all.

Hm...*gets a new idea*...maybe that'll work. *goes off thinking*

Gravekeepers (2)

Yeah, the Hand Destruction idea was bad, so I had to redo it to a new specification. So, here you go:

Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
3x Gravekeeper's Commandant
3x Gravekeeper's Descendant
3x Gravekeeper's Recruiter
3x Gravekeeper's Spy
3x Gravekeeper's Visionary
2x Malefic Stardust Dragon

Allure of Darkness
3x Gravekeeper's Stele
Monster Reborn
3x Necrovalley
2x Royal Tribute
2x Terraforming

2x Bottomless Trap Hole
Call of the Haunted
3x Magician's Circle
3x Rite of Spirit
Torrential Tribute

Extra Deck

3x Stardust Dragon

~~~
When you try something new, it tends to fail, but it doesn't mean that you give up the idea and quit. It just means you try again. Anyway, enjoy!
(Updated 02/03/2011, 1:33 PM: I took Kamitsure's advice and removed Gravekeeper's Assailant for another Gravekeeper's Recruiter and another Gravekeeper's Descendant.)
