Cardfight!! Vanguard - Card Discussion - Demon World Marquis, Amon

Grade: 3 - Dark Irregulars - Demon
Twin Drive Check!! - When this unit Drive Checks, Drive Check twice.
Continuous[V]: During your turn, for each "Dark Irregular" in your Soul, this Unit gains +1000 Power.
Startup[V]: [Counterblast(1), Move 1 of your "Dark Irregular" Rear Guards to Soul.] Your Opponent chooses 1 of their own Rear Guards and Retires it.
Power: 10000    Critical: +1

Few comments:
  • Normally, I see this card as a way to go "All-In" with players completely nuking your opponent's field with this card, and with Doreen the Thruster power boost, it'll severely drain their hand as well.
  • With using this card to control the field, the opponent has to choose something to retire, which falls on them if they make a crucial mistake in retiring the wrong card.

What I have done with Demon World Marquis, Amon and Doreen the Thruster is the following:
  • Leave Demon World Marquis, Amon unboosted. Why? The power boost from the Continuous effect that it has is good enough, since with the set-up of Decadent Succubus, would lead to 18000~20000 easily.
  • Have Doreen the Thruster boost the Rear Guard Attackers. Why? If your opponent wants to take another damage, they could. Otherwise, they'd have to waste a good amount of Shields to block(typically 2 to 4 cards, taking into account the 5000 Shields, 10000 Shields, and the "Nullifying the Attack" shields).
  • What would happen if the Vanguard's attack is blocked? This clan has two Stand Triggers, one of them does a Soul Charge and returns to the Deck to be used later. So, the odds of getting a Stand Trigger in the late game is good.
Anyway, if I missed something, leave a comment. Anyway, enjoy!

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Card Discussion - Decadent Succ

Grade 2 - Dark Irregulars - Succubus
Intercept: When other Units are being attacked, this Unit can move to the Guardian Zone and become its Guardian.
Auto(V): Whenever you call a Dark Irregulars Rear Guard, you may Soul Charge(1).
Power: 9000    Shield: 5000

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Card Discussion - Doreen the Thruster

Grade 1 - Dark Irregulars - Elf
Boost: When declaring an attack with this Unit behind the attacker, put this Unit to Rest and add its power to the attacker.
Auto (R): During your Main Phase, when your Cards are moved to the Soul, and you have a "Dark Irregulars" Vanguard, during that turn, this Unit gains +3000 Power.
Power: 6000    Shield: 5000   Critical: +1

This card is the basic backbone booster for Dark Irregulars, since Dark Irregulars focus on adding cards to Soul. How many of Doreen the Thruster should you run? Max them out. Why? Two cards that can be used in combination with it: Decadent Succubus and Demon World Marquis, Amon, which both cards can lead to Doreen the Thruster having up to 24000 Power to boost with, since each time you add cards to your Soul during your Main Phase, Doreen the Thruster gains +3000 Power.

Anyway, feel free to discuss. Enjoy!

  • Yu-gi-oh! Deck Explanation - Crystal Beasts and Gishki
  • (Maybe some Cardfight!! Vanguard posts after this, if I don't have anything else)
Yes, next month is Yu-gi-oh! based. Sorry for not being able to catch up as much as I could for Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II; I just had things in real life that I took care of and still have to take care of.

~~~
Some other comments:
Customs: I've been neglecting this for some time. I wasn't sure what to do with the customs now that the TCG has the text change, and the OCG text I had made it a bit easier for me to make them and mass produce them. I may go back to Square 1 with this, and try to figure out a new idea where I can do the most good.
Other Anime and Online Video Games: I'm considering doing some Unrelated Posts on some animes and online games I play. Not sure if I'm going to do it though.
Anyway, feel free to leave a comment if you want me to take a look into something.
Yu-gi-oh! Deck Explanation - Chaos Sphinx and Ice Barriers
Chaos Sphinx: For this deck, there's four concepts:
  • Special Summoning Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia by using Pyramid of Light can be handy to get such cards as Advance Draw to work. Drawing 2 cards by sacrificing a card and paying 500 Life Points is similar to cards that allow you to draw 2 and remove one. The only difference is that you pay 500 Life Points.
  • For monsters that are Level 10 in here, and most of the time whoever you face will not have monsters with that high of a level, that is why Ante is here. It makes your opponent lose a card and he loses 1000 Life Points.
  • The reason why I run Dust Tornado is that I do not put Pyramid of Light at risk.
  • For stall, you have Gellenduo, Marshmallon, and Spirit Reaper.
If you have any questions, leave a comment.
Ice Barrier: This deck focuses on Preacher of the Ice Barrier, since it focuses mainly on Inferno Reckless Summoning. If you summon it by it's own effect, you can use Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord for protection. This'll give you ample time to Special Summon what you want. Other than that, you can use Water Hazard to summon whatever you need. If you have any questions, leave a comment.
Yu-gi-oh! Deck Explanations - Agents and Gemknights
Agents: Self-explanatory at this point. If you guys have any questions about the deck, leave a comment.
Gemknights: The cards that gives this deck a +1 advantage are listed below:
  • Volcanic Shell
  • Thunder Dragon
  • Rescue Rabbit
  • Gem-Armadillo
  • Gem-Knight Obsidian
  • Dark Factory of Mass Production
  • Gem-Knight Fusion
With that, you could gain much advantage by fusing 3-4 times in one turn, if you keep the advantage. It's more of an explosive deck that can potentially OTK under correct circumstances, and with this format, there's not that many traps to depend upon, since Heavy Storm and 3 Mystical Space Typhoons are out. If you guys have any questions, leave a comment.
~~~

A couple of updates:
  • I'm currently glancing through blogs and see if there's an interesting idea. So far, on Yuginshin's blog, I'm interested in the Space-Time Police idea with Xyz monsters.
  • For next month, I'll be focusing more on Yu-gi-oh!, since hopefully, by the end of this month, I'll be mostly caught up with Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategy II.

Chaos Sphinx

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
3x Sphinx Teleia
3x Andro Sphinx
Marshmallon
2x Gellenduo
3x Chaos Sorcerer
3x Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord
3x Spirit Reaper

Monster Reborn
Allure of Darkness
Dark Hole
Heavy Storm
2x Advance Draw
3x Ante

Trap Dustshoot
Torrential Tribute
2x Call of the Haunted
2x Mind Crush
3x Dust Tornado
3x Pyramid of Light

Reasoning behind Dust Tornado being in instead of Mystical Space Typhoon:
To bait out your opponent's Mystical Space Typhoon and keep Pyramid of Light safe. Since Pyramid of Light is a Continuous Trap that has uses on your turn, you would have to wait until your opponent wastes all the Spell and Trap hate they have. Obviously, Heavy Storm takes care of all Spell and Traps, so it's an exception, but what about the cards that only destroys one Spell and Trap card? Just a thought when building this deck.

Why Ante?
Because in this deck, it's similar to Confiscation, except your opponent takes the 1000 points and you don't get to see in their hand.

Note: Also, this is meant to be a fun, casual build.

Technical Difficulties and Thoughts about Yu-gi-oh! customs

It'll be a little while before I get the post about the program up (that's about Cardfight!! Vanguard). Seems I ran into technical difficulties when going through the program. So far, I've noticed that more and more pages are coming in English, so I may be able to figure it out soon. I do not know when though.

As for customs (I haven't done them in a while), I may do a separate page of a random assortment of cards, instead of a custom card set, because I ran out of inspiration on completing the set. I'll be trying to work on that as well, and inform you if there's any changes.

Just thought I post a heads-up on what's going on.

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Nova Grappler - Part 1

The final post of the three. Here's a small recap on what is going on:
Well, then, enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Picking a Grade 0 Vanguard:
Pick Battleraizer. For his effect to be called to a Rear Guard circle, you can use him as a 6k booster for one of your attacks.
Basic Strategy:
Same as before in Cardfight! Vanguard - Strategies - Nova Grappler - Part 1. The main choice for a Vanguard is Asura Kaizer, and by drive checking a Grade 3, you can stand one of your Rear Guards an attack again. The difference between Strategy I and Strategy II is that there's some reinforcement to that strategy. The following cards reinforce that concept:
Both of these cards, when a Grade 3 card is drive checked, they stand.
Guarding:
  • 12 Grade 0 10000 Shield.
  • 4 Draw Trigger
  • 8 Grade 1 5000 Shield
  • 4 Twin Blader
  • 8 Grade 2 5000 Shield/Interceptor
  • 4 NGM Prototype
Sample Deck List:
Grade 0:
4x Battleraizer
4x Lucky Girl
4x Three Minutes
4x Round Girl Clara
Grade 1:
4x Death Army Guy
4x Twin Blader
4x Clay Soldier
Grade 2:
4x Death Army Lady
4x Genocide Jack
4x NGM Prototype
Grade 3:
4x Asura Kaizer
2x Mr. Invincible
4x Lion Heat
The poll is closed. The result is "Yes." Thank you all for voting.
Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Oracle Think Tank - Part 1
It's time for the second part of the 3 Strategy II posts. For a brief recap, here's the list of the three again:
With this strategy though, this is constantly evolving or changing, so I'll do a revised version of this strategy if anything changes. Anyway, enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Picking out a Grade 0 Vanguard:
This time it would be Godhawk, Ichibyoshi. With his effect to call out Goddess of the Crescent Moon, Tsukuyomi, the returning of the 4 or 5 cards of deck is key for this strategy. It would be explained later.

Strategies:
Behind the probability of the Goddess of the Crescent Moon, Tsukuyomi, Goddess of the Half Moon, Tsukuyomi, and Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi, you can go here. While reading, imagine the following:
The percentages of probability would be the same, if you look through that post, but that's not the reason why I'm stressing it. Anyway, the strategy behind it is similar to some cases to Galahad, but more concentrated in here. The ability to stack your triggers together, and to defend as an Oracle Think Tank. As you defend over time, you have a good chance to push the game to the bottom of your Deck; however, if you do not control your draws, you will lose by deck-out. Anyway, in regards to that, why would I say "stack my triggers"? Well, you stack them from the bottom to the top. This is a few cards that can just do exactly that:
With using those effects, while you have 6 or more cards in your soul, you can replace a card in your hand and put the trigger at the bottom of your Deck. Anyway, to get through to the triggers at the bottom of your Deck, you need to generate card advantage and get enough Shields to survive to the next turn.

Guarding:
Sample Deck List:

Grade 0:
Godhawk, Ichibyoshi

Grade 1:
4x Goddess of the Crescent Moon, Tsukuyomi
4x Battle Sister Vanilla
3x Battle Sister Chocolat
3x Oracle Guardian Blue-Eye

Grade 2:
4x Goddess of the Half Moon, Tsukuyomi
3x Silent Tom
3x Faithful Angel

Grade 3:
4x Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi
4x Secretary Angel

If you have any questions, leave a comment. Next up will be Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Nova Grapplers - Part 1.

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Kagero - Part 1

For anyone that's trying to figure out what I'm going to do next, is this: I will do three Strategy II posts, then move onto the Yu-gi-oh! side of things. The three Strategy posts I'm going to do are as follows:
 Anyway, enjoy!

~~~~
Picking out a Grade 0 Vanguard:
For this, pick Lizard Soldier Conroe. With his Counterblast(1) ability to search out a Grade 1, his 5000 Power can boost a Vanguard or Rear Guard over an opponent's Shield, which means that they would have to waste more of their precious cards in the hand or on the Field (if they have a Grade 2 to intercept).
Basic Strategy:
For this strategy, you would have 2 Vanguards to pick from:
  • Dragonic Waterfowl: With his ability, you would be able to hit them for one damage (or two if you manage to Drive Check a Critical Trigger). The downside is that you need a Grade 3 in hand, which is not that good, but if you want to go over some shields, this would be the card to use.
  • Dragonic Overlord: With his ability, you would be able to attack the Rear Guards, performing a Drive Check each time (if it is not stopped), and increasing the chance to get a Trigger. Also, with his ability, you would be able to decrease your opponent's resources greatly if your opponent is unable or able to stop it, which is key to making sure that your opponent gets hit hard on the next turn.
For the alternate strategy, you continuously retire your opponent's Rear Guards during either your Main Phase (this would happen rarely) or your Battle Phase (this would be more likely) of your turn.
Alternative Strategy:
For the alternative strategy, you focus in on how much resources your opponent has, and forcing your opponent to make a choice: "Does he block like normal, and have no counterattack OR does he take the damage and attempt to strike you back with what he has?" Either option leads to the same conclusion: "Your opponent will lose resources." Anyway, here's what I used throughout the build that was handy to have in this build:
  • Gatling Claw Dragon - Main Phase: Retire a Grade 0 unit by doing a Counterblast(1) and sending this card to Soul.
  • Dragonic Overlord - Battle Phase: This card is able to attack again if you send an opponent's Rear Guard to the Graveyard when this card attacks. You also must pay a Counterblast(3) to activate this skill.
  • Wyvern Strike Tejas - Battle Phase: This card is able to attack anything in the same column as him as well as attack anything in the front row.
Guarding:
Sample Deck List:
Grade 0:
4x Lizard Soldier Ganlu
4x Lizard Runner Nafud
4x Gatling Claw Dragon
4x Dragon Monk Genjo
Lizard Soldier Conroe
Grade 1:
4x Dragon Monk Gojo
4x Wyvern Strike Jarran
3x Wyvern Guard Barri
3x Embodiment of Armor Bahr
Grade 2:
4x Dragon Knight Berger
3x Dragon Armored Knight
4x Wyvern Strike Tejas
Grade 3:
4x Dragonic Waterfowl
4x Dragonic Overlord
~~~

Next one would be Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Oracle Think Tank - Part 1. After that, it would be Cardfight!! Vanguard - Strategies II - Nova Grappler - Part 1.

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Card Discussion - Dragonic Overlord

Well, it's time for another one of these.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grade 3 - Kagero - Flame Dragon
Twin Drive Check!! - When this unit Drive Checks, Drive Check twice.
Continuous(V/R): When you don't control any other "Kagero" Vanguard or Rear Guards, this card loses -2000 Power.
Startup(V/R): (Counterblast(3)) During this turn, this card gains +5000 Power and gains this ability: "Auto(V/R): When this card attack hits a Rear Guard, this unit stands." but loses its Twin Drive Ability.
Power: 11000     Critical: +1
Cons:
  • If you use this as a Vanguard, and use its Counterblast(3) ability, you may only do a Drive Check, if your opponent decides to block the attack completely.
  • If you have this as Vanguard, and your opponent decides to retire all of your Rear Guards, this card's power becomes 9000.
Pros:
  • His ability is for Vanguard or Rear Guard so it is good in both positions.
  • If you use this as a Vanguard, and use its Counterblast(3) ability, you have a potential to get up to 3 Triggers from Drive Checking, if your opponent is unsuccessful to guard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, from comments on the other Cardfight!! Vanguard - Card Discussion post, I began looking into other ways to play the game online or on the computer. Which is why I'm going to be setting up a poll. (The poll will end in a week's time: 9/8/2011 at midnight.) It'll be on the sidebar asking this: "Would you like to play Cardfight!! Vanguard on a program that partly/fully has it in a different language?" The website itself is no problem because Google Chrome exists, but there is an option to put part of it in English, but some of the program windows of it is in a different language. (The poll is located on the sidebar.) Anyway, enjoy!
