Now it seems you have a plan and you are going for it with all the deck.
ReplyDeleteI like it, But since is a crystal beast deck you are vulnerable to constant dead draws. Don't you think?
@ Eh_Chavo
ReplyDeleteYeah, the dead draws consistently become a problem if your opponent gets a lot of Spell and Trap hate opening hand.
At the very least, now it seems to be getting better ratios and have a better chance to win against the top meta.
A couple musts:
Crystal Abundance: It's the Heavy Storm of the deck
And Rainbow Dragon is needed to get over monsters like Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning.
Bolt:
ReplyDeleteIf you need to get over Black Luster Soldier that badly, why not just run Hamon? Theoretically speaking, it's easier to get out than Rainbow Dragon earlier in the game and doesn't rely on having all of the Crystal Beasts being used in some way. It can also combo with Tortoise fairly well.
I'm also surprised you're still not running Rainbow Ruins. It takes out Sanctuary in the Sky and The Gates of the Underworld and has the very nice effect of letting you tribute a Crystal Beast monster to negate Spell and Traps like Heavy Storm. You'd be surprised at how many people forget it can do that.
Another note, Cobalt Eagle is and has always been a weak link in the deck. In theory, you get to recycle Sapphire Pegasus and add more consistency, but that screws up your draw. I'd say run Genex Ally Birdman since it does the same thing better and allows you to use Black Rose Dragon and maybe Ancient Fairy Dragon. Black Rose Dragon's nuke doesn't destroy Rainbow Ruins if you have so much as 1 Crystal Beast card in the Spell/Trap Zone when the effect goes off and Ancient Fairy Dragon lets you destroy those two Field Spells (and the occasional Necrovalley) and then search for Rainbow Ruins.
Rare Value is too good not to use. Crystal Beasts need that and Pot of Duality to set up. They prevent more dead draws than they cause. Rainbow Ruins can also act as a draw card and has come in very handy in that respect in letting me draw Crystal Abundance.
If you think Crystal Abundance is that important to the deck, add in a way to mill monsters and include Crystal Counter. Crystal Counter can immediately add 4 C Beasts to the back field for use.
@ Bolt
ReplyDeleteFirst off, when you do "Comment as:" you could always pick "Name/URL". Just a suggestion.
Crystal Pair vs Crystal Counter
I've been contemplating what to do about this. It could be helpful to set up some plays to get Xyz out(Crystal Counter), but at the same time, it provides another search option from the deck (Crystal Pair). It's up in the air about that, so I may test out Crystal Counter.
Hamon vs Rainbow Dragon
The reason why I like Rainbow Dragon is when it bounces, it'll be back next turn, but when Hamon is summoned, if he bounces, I would have to set up 3 Crystal Beast Continuous Spells in the Spell and Trap Zones. Note: Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier has been commonly used. Not to mention, if I do use Hamon, then I lose efficiency in everything else I use due to not having enough Crystal Beasts in the Spell/Trap Zone. So, I'd keep Rainbow Dragon over Hamon in this build.
Rare Value: Why am I not using it?
Same reason as above. If I destroy one Crystal Beast for 2 cards, then I would gain more dead cards instead of gaining more cards that I can use.
Pot of Duality has always been a maybe, but if I grow into a habit of adding 3 Pot of Dualities to every deck I use, because it would seal off Special Summons which in this format, if you are able to Special Summon, you'd have to Special Summon whenever you can. Especially in this deck once I reach two Crystal Beasts in the Spell and Trap Zones, I would prefer to Special Summon more than setting up a bigger play.
Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins is another card I could consider, but there's a problem with it in this format: "Why bother wasting time on setting up when this format is filled with Spell and Trap Hate?" The majority of the time, I'm using Abundance as a discard for Summoner Monk's effect to set up additional Xyz plays. On a rare occurance, it reached up to 2 Crystal Beasts in Graveyard, and that's where you would use Crystal Blessing to set up 4 Crystal Beasts on a Spell and Trap Zone. In regards to the negation effect/draw 1 effect/SS Crystal Beast eff, it's completely useless; however, on a rare occasion, Crystal Blessing sets up Crystal Abundance, which sets up a finishing moment that turn.
Hopefully this helps to explain it better.
